Dancing in the East Bay
Trip the Light Fantastic's Friday Night Dance is the women's weekly dance night in Oakland and takes place most Fridays from 7:30 - 11:00pm at 1318 Glenfield Ave. (off Park Blvd.), Oakland. Dancing includes two-stepping, east and west coast swing, waltzes, nightclub 2-step, salsa, ballroom and line dances. Clogging Classes
Barbary Coast Cloggers present lessons on Sunday afternoons, 3:30 to 5:30pm. Students welcome to attend any or all of the dance instruction. Beginner’s series runs in three-week increments. Swing City Dancers Party, Every 3rd Saturday
Join the Swing City Dancers for a swing dance party every 3rd Saturday. West Coast, East Coast, and other dances played on request. Lessons at 7:00 pm; party starts at 8:00 pm. Trip the Light Fantastic Presents New Monday Night Dance Classes
Starting April 2nd, Zoe Balfour will be teaching the following classes in Oakland: 6:30 – 7:30pm An Introduction to Line Dances. 7:30 - 8:30pm Beginning International Latin. Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba and Jive. 8:30 - 9:30pm Pride Team. Learn a choreographed routine in Samba, cha cha and tango over 2 and a half months. Suitable for beginners. Sunday Ballroom Classes in Latin and Standard
Sundays, 10:00 - 11:00am. Intermediate International Style Latin with Heintje. Each month is a different Latin dance (Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive & Paso Doble). April will be Cha Cha. Drop-ins welcome on the first Sunday of the month only. Sundays, 11:00am - 12n Advanced International Style Standard Ballroom with the graceful Alise Halbert. Sundays, 12n - 1:00pm Beginning Standard - This is a three month class where you will learn a routine in Waltz, Tango and Quickstep and be able to take it out on the dance floor, whether to compete or for dancing socially. Sundays, 1:00 - 2:00pm Intermediate Standard - Each month we will work on a different dance. Prerequisite: 6 months experience or permission of instructor. 2006 Gay Games medalists Zoe and Citabria will alternate teaching these classes. No partner necessary, all classes will rotate partners, and there's no experience necessary for beginning classes. Cost: $12/class or $40/four weeks paid in advance.
