![]() The Country Dance-A-Thon Sundance Saloon (550 Barneveld Ave.) Sunday, September 7, 2008 7:00 - 10:00pm Most of us don't need an excuse to slip on our boots and head on over to Sundance for a fun night of dancing. That being said, here's one more reason! The Country Dance-A-Thon is a three-hour country dance marathon taking place on Sunday, September 7 at Sundance Saloon. It is a fundraiser for the AIDS/Breast Cancer Emergency Fund and the Positive Resource Center, and a joint project of the Sundance Saloon and the Bare Chest Calendar. Want to join us? Here's what you need to do:
You can download a registration packet here, or pick one up at Sundance Saloon. Dance-a-thon Registration Packet
Participants will be asked to collect a minimum of $50 to enter. Don't panic! This is not hard to do - just ask 4 friends for $15, and you have already exceeded the required amount! (We are purposely keeping the minimum low, to encourage lots of participation, but we would be disappointed if we didn't see some higher amounts!) The Dance-A-Thon will take place during regular Sundance Saloon hours on Sunday night, September 7, 7:00 - 10:00pm. Dance-A-Thoners will be identified by wearing a special placard, and they can dance with the regular Sundance crowd as well as with other Dance-A-Thoners. Dance-A-Thoners will be encouraged to stay out on the dance floor as much as possible from 7:00 to 10:00pm, but it's OK to take breaks: we're advising 2 songs per half-hour. Questions can be directed to B.J. Patnode at bjpatnode@barechest.org. Registration deadline is Audust 25! This event is a fundraiser for the AIDS/Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (AEF) and the Positive Resource Center (PRC). The AEF provides emergency financial assistance to people facing the challenges of living with debilitating HIV and AIDS. Each year approximately 2,500 low-income San Franciscans get help from AEF - enabling them to maintain housing and utility services, make medical co-payments, and meet other critical expenses while they are too sick to work. The PRC offers free and confidential disability benefits counseling and employment services for HIV-infected persons who are able to return to work. |
