New Year's Eve with Sundance

New Year's Eve with Sundance Saloon returns to the SOMArts Cultural Center! We need lots of volunteer help, including some positions unique to this event, like bartenders, dinner buffet monitors, and trash monitors.

Set-up (2:00-5:00 pm - probably will end early)
*** Coat-check *** (9:00-10:30 pm)
*** Trash monitor *** (12:10-1:00 am)
Tear-down (12:15-1:30 am)

If you volunteered for a prior Stompede, Castro Street Fair, New Year's Eve, or SF Pride, you already have an account in the Special Event volunteer system.

Special note to Sundance Saloon volunteers: The Sundance Saloon volunteer system is different and separate from our Sundance Special Event volunteer system. We suggest that you use the same User ID (e-mail address) and password for both systems.

If you volunteered since 2011 for a prior Stompede, Castro Street Fair, New Year's Eve Dance, or SF Pride, you already have an account in the Special Event volunteer system.

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Load-in
Load truck, transport from Noe Valley storage to SOMArts, unload truck.
Requires: heavy lifting; four limbs; punctuality

Set-up
Set up sound and video systems, dinner tables, front door, coat-check, decorate.
Requires: heavy lifting; ability to follow directions; opposable thumbs

Bartender Set-up
Set up bar.
Requires: heavy lifting; knowledge of bartender needs; ability to abstain for 90 minutes

Front Door
Handles front door entry and/or checks handstamps/wristbands. May also sell drink tickets.
Requires: money handling; wrist fetish; friendly smile

Coat-Check
Check coats and bags. May also sell drink tickets.
Requires: money handling; light lifting; plays well with coat-hangers

Bartender
Sell beverages, non-alcoholic and alcoholic.
Requires: basic bartender knowledge; money handling; complete on-line certification course

Trash Monitor
Ensures proper sorting of trash vs. recycle vs. compost. Also collects empty bottles and cups, and basic janitorial duties to maintain facility cleanliness.
Requires: understanding of different types of trash; ability to use a mop; neatness fetish helps

Tear-down
Disassemble our materials and load into truck. Break down and restore provided furniture from SOMArts.
Requires: light to heavy lifting; legs still working after dancing; minimum two arms recommended

Load-out (Tuesday morning)
Unload truck at storage in Noe Valley.
Requires: heavy lifting; moving boxes around; sort recycle vs. trash
